How do I generate QR codes from Airtable data?

Filla's QR/Barcode Generator connects to your Airtable base and creates QR codes from any text or URL field. Create a new QR/Barcode Generator tool in your Filla workspace, select the source field (the data to encode), choose QR Code as the format, and select an attachment field to save the generated image. You can customize colors, choose PNG or SVG output, and set the error correction level. Click Run to generate codes for all records in the selected view, or process individual records. The generated QR code images are saved directly to your Airtable attachment fields, where they appear in gallery views, record detail pages, and can be downloaded.

What barcode formats does Filla support?

Filla supports six barcode and QR code formats. QR Code is a 2D matrix code for URLs, text, and general data. Code 128 is a high-density linear barcode used in shipping, logistics, and internal inventory tracking. EAN-13 is the 13-digit barcode used on retail products internationally. UPC-A is the 12-digit barcode standard for retail products in North America. Code 39 is an older but widely compatible barcode used in automotive, defense, and healthcare industries. DataMatrix is a compact 2D barcode used in electronics manufacturing, healthcare, and situations where space is limited. Each format has specific data requirements. For example, EAN-13 requires exactly 13 digits.

Can I customize the color of QR codes generated from Airtable?

Yes. Filla lets you set both the foreground color (the dark modules of the code) and the background color independently. You can use any hex color value, so codes can match your brand palette. For example, you could generate dark navy QR codes on a white background for corporate materials, or black barcodes on a yellow background for warehouse labels. The only requirement is sufficient contrast between foreground and background colors so scanners can read the code reliably.

Can I generate QR codes in bulk for all records?

Yes. Filla processes entire tables or views in a single batch operation. Select a view to scope the generation to specific records, or run it against the entire table. Filla generates one code per record and saves each image as an attachment. A progress indicator shows how many records have been processed and how many remain. Airtable teams managing inventory (one code per product), event registration (one code per attendee), or asset tracking (one code per device) use bulk generation to create codes at scale. There is no per-record limit on the batch size.

What is the difference between PNG and SVG QR code output?

PNG is a raster image format with a fixed pixel resolution. PNG codes look sharp at their generated size but can become blurry if scaled up significantly. PNG is the best choice for on-screen use, email attachments, and web pages. SVG is a vector image format that uses mathematical paths instead of pixels, so it scales to any size without losing quality. SVG is the best choice for printed materials like labels, posters, brochures, and packaging where the code may need to be enlarged. Both formats are saved as native Airtable attachments and can be downloaded, shared, or embedded from your base.
