Text blocks let you add rich content anywhere on your form. Use them for page introductions, instructions, section explanations, legal disclaimers, or personalized messages that reference earlier answers. Page titles in Filla are for editor navigation only and are not displayed to respondents. To introduce a page or section to respondents, add a text block as the first widget on the page. Use heading formatting for the page title and regular body text for any description or context.

When to use text blocks

  • Introduce a page — use a text block as the first widget, with a heading for the page title and body text for the description or context
  • Explain a section — add context before a group of related fields
  • Add instructions or context between fields
  • Show a personalized message using the respondent’s earlier answers
  • Display terms, disclaimers, or legal text
  • Add formatted content with bold, italics, links, and lists

Show/hide rulesFilter builderOnly show this text block when certain conditions are met

Using variables in text blocks

Type @ in the content editor to open the variable picker. You can insert:
  • Field values from earlier pages (e.g., “Thanks, @First Name!”)
  • Date values (e.g., today’s date)
Variables are replaced with the respondent’s actual answers when the form is displayed.
Combine text blocks with show/hide rules to display different messages based on what the respondent selected earlier.
See Variable text and @ references for more on how variables work across the platform.

Styling

Text block content respects your form’s theme settings:
  • Text color follows the Question text color setting
  • Links use the form’s Accent color with an underline, so they stand out from surrounding text
  • Formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists) renders using standard typography styles
