What this does

Collaborator fields map to Airtable’s Single Collaborator and Multiple Collaborators field types. They present a picker that lets respondents select one or more collaborators from your Airtable workspace.

Settings reference

Collaborator fields (both single and multiple) have no field-specific settings beyond the universal ones. Universal settings that apply: Label, description, required, read-only, show/hide rules, conditional read-only, reject duplicates, custom validation rules.

How the picker works

The collaborator picker shows all members who have access to the connected Airtable base. Respondents search by name or email and select from the results. For Single Collaborator, only one person can be selected. For Multiple Collaborators, multiple people can be selected.

Common use cases

  • Assigning a task or request to a team member
  • Identifying who is responsible for a record
  • Tagging stakeholders on a project submission

Common questions

The picker only shows people who are members of the Airtable workspace. External respondents (people who don’t have access to your Airtable base) will see an empty list. If you need external selection, use a linked records field with a people table instead.
Yes, using the default value setting with a variable reference if the collaborator is known from a previous field. However, pre-filling with a specific collaborator requires that person to be in the workspace.
The picker is searchable by name or email, so respondents can find the right person quickly even in large workspaces.
